“She didn’t want to be loved for her petals, she wanted to be loved for her thorns. She knew if someone loved her flaws, they would love her whole.”
THE STORY OF THIS PIECE:
A dear friend of mine has been experiencing a hard season in her life. She’s been taking steps to grow in a new direction and asked me to draw her a tattered rose. To her, the rose was symbolic of a transformation of mind where before she could only see her thorns and in her mind the thorns took away beauty from the rose. What she grew to learn was that thorns have no bearing on the beauty of the rose, and in fact tell a story that serves to make the rose even more precious and valuable.
